Research Assistant

This position will be responsible for:

  • researching issues to be covered in the near future on PublicSquare,
  • researching possible authors/speakers,
  • speaking with experts by phone about participating in debates,
  • researching special-interest groups with an interest in the topics being covered.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • excellent research skills,
  • interest in one or more areas of public policy,
  • good oral and written communication skills.

Candidates must:

  • have access to a computer with Internet access and basic office software (e.g.,Microsoft Office), as most of the work is done offsite
  • be comfortable working at home or some other accessible location
  • provide for their own transportation to weekly staff meetings (site is Metro accessible).

This internship is particularly suited for those interested in a career on Capitol Hill or in the legislative arena. This is a great opportunity to experience real responsibility, meaningful work, and influence into decision-making with a dynamic Washington media company. Interns will become familiar with intellectuals, think tanks, special interest groups, journalists, politicians, and other power brokers in the nation’s capital.
